STATIC is the creative output of East London based artists Tom Jackson and Craig Evans, who have been working together since 2006. The influence of their backgrounds in Graphics and Fine Art creates an aesthetic that fuses elements of urban art with fine art. STATIC have developed a technique using layered glass and Perspex with stencils, spray paint, screen printing and paint to create unique pieces which have been exhibited in London, Singapore, Japan and the US.
STATIC’s signature layered works deconstruct the stencil and screen-printing processes they have been exploring since they began working together. This practice results in ‘floating’ portraits and multi-layered symbols and patterns which project ideas of hope, idealism and escapism. Imagery and symbols are extracted from the media and popular culture to create these energetic and stylish works. STATIC perfectly encapsulate the spirit of Pop and provide a fresh interpretation of the times we live in.
